Important: Do not assume a local-only URL such as
http://localhost:20128 will work in Cursor. The endpoint must be reachable in the way required by your current Cursor setup. Consult the official FAQ first. Before you begin
- 9Router is running and you have a valid API key.
- You know which endpoint Cursor is expected to use.
- You have confirmed the model ID supported by the endpoint.
Setup checklist
- Open the current 9Router official FAQ and find the Cursor-specific instructions.
- Use the documented endpoint for your deployment. For a self-hosted service, confirm secure external reachability before exposing it.
- Copy the correct API key into the client configuration.
- Select a model that appears in the endpoint’s model list.
- Send a small test prompt and record the status/error if it fails.
If Cursor still fails
- Connection error: confirm endpoint DNS, TLS, firewall, and public reachability.
- 401: re-check the key and authorization format.
- Model error: compare the selected ID with the endpoint’s available model list.
- 429/provider error: inspect provider limits and availability.
Security: avoid exposing an unauthenticated local gateway to the public internet. Use the official security guidance and a protected endpoint.
